Amazon is offering a Job Opportunity in Japan as a Senior Economist.

• Work with Product, Finance, Data Science, and Data Engineering teams across the globe.
• Innovate on how Amazon can leverage data analytics to better serve customers through selection and pricing.
• Contribute to building a strong data science community in Amazon Asia.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree in Economics, Quantitative Marketing, Information Systems, or Operations Research.
• Experience in academia, private sector, consulting or government
• Working experience in Stata, R, Matlab, and/or Python

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to distil and communicate relevant scientific insights to senior business leaders
• Experience applying empirical techniques in empirical industrial organization, and/or machine learning
• Confirmed track record of academic publications
• Deep experience and knowledge of specific microeconometric empirical techniques
• Demonstrated ability to leverage data and/or models to drive organizational impact and change in a private or public sector context
• Experience in data analytics in a B2C industry (e.g., consumer/retail/retail financial services/telecoms/media).
• Experience with big data tools such as Scala, PySpark, AWS products.
• Ability to identify and successfully pitch the value of new ideas to business leaders
• Business fluency (JLPT N2 or above) in Japanese
