Opportunity description

Binance is offering a job opportunity as a Data Privacy Legal Counsel (Middle East & North Africa / Full-time Onsite or Remote).

Duties & responsibilities

  1. Provide legal advice on data privacy requirements to support the business at a local (MENA) and global level.
  2. Develop, implement and review data privacy policies and programmes to ensure data privacy compliance for personal information collection, processing, transfer and disclosure (including the GDPR)
  3. Facilitate compliance across all aspects of global privacy laws and regulations including data protection, data security and data breach rules
  4. Draft, review, negotiate and administer legal and commercial documentation, in particular in relation to personal data transfers to third parties and cross-jurisdiction
  5. Actively manage external counsel on contentious and non-contentious privacy-related projects internationally
  6. Continuously monitor data privacy developments and provide practical advice to the relevant stakeholders
  7.  

Eligibility criteria

  1. Qualified lawyer in data privacy with 5-7 years of experience at a reputable global law firm and/or as in-house counsel
  2. Good technical professional knowledge of data privacy laws and regulatory guidance is essential
  3. Experience working as a privacy counsel is essential
  4. Ability to tailor advice to the specific needs of the business and apply common sense and practical solutions 
  5. Experience with handling regulatory inquiries, requests for information and investigations a plus
  6. Good experience with negotiating data processing agreements/ data sharing agreements 
  7. Interest in the cryptocurrency industry and its development
  8. Master of Laws or Juris Doctor degree from a top law school
  9. Strong team player and good business sense
  10. Ability to adapt to change and to be open minded and innovative in their thinking. 
  11. Able to work under pressure, and comfortable to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
