Abt Associates offers a job opportunity in Jordan as a Chief of Party for Youth Grow Activity. You must have proven experience in youth empowerment, leadership, and development. You will be responsible for leading and managing the project, providing strategic direction for Youth Grow, serving as a visible advocate of the project and PYD, and forming and leading high-performance teams.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and project management to successfully implement planned activities and produce results.
- Represent Abt Associates and Youth Grow to the USAID Mission, government ministry officials, development partners, private sector actors, and other key stakeholders.
- Accountable to USAID/Jordan for ensuring that the Youth Grow project team provides high-quality technical products and services, delivers required results, and uses resources efficiently.
- Coordinate with and leverage relevant projects from surrounding development partners and local stakeholders for better results and optimized cost efficiency.
- Supervise institutional sub-agreements with assistance from the Abt Senior Management Team.
- Monitor the progress and pace of project implementation, ensuring that the full potential of the program is realized through the promotion of high-quality work and internal control.
- Coordinate closely with the headquarters Project Management Director and Project Management Officer to assure that all managerial and administrative matters are communicated and that actions comply with the provisions of the contract and USAID.
- Ensure that project budget projections, expenditure, tracking, and reporting are in accordance with USAID requirements, procedures, and practices.
- Ensure a successful start-up of project activities and completion of the project, including the documentation and dissemination of project achievements and execution of administrative project close-out.
- Ensure all processes and procedures for project implementation are compliant with USAID and Abt policies.

Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree + Fifteen years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Twelve years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. + Ten years of relevant experience.
It's preferred to have:
- Master’s degree or higher in international development, sociology, economics, or another relevant field.
- 15 years prior experience in implementing complex youth development activities with the public and private sectors. Experience working with the Government of Jordan.
- Demonstrated understanding of positive youth development and successful experience in supporting youth education, leadership, empowerment, and employment in Jordan and/or in the Middle East region.
- Experience developing and communicating a project vision, aligning key stakeholders around the vision, and ensuring the vision is translated into efficiently implemented program activities.
- Ability to communicate and write reports and other professional documents in English.
- Previous experience leading US Government-funded projects.
