Norwegian Refugee Council offers a job opportunity in Jordan as an Education Project Manager. All NRC employees are expected to work in accordance with the organization’s core values: dedication, innovation, inclusivity, and accountability. The overall objective of the NRC Education program in Jordan is to support children and adolescents to progress through formal education, and refugees’ right to education is upheld. The program operates in Irbid, Azraq & Zaatari Camps Area.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  1. Contribute to the development of Country, Area, and Core Competency (CC) strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant CC projects.
  2. In synergy with the Education Specialist team, further develop and design program approaches and activities that can be implemented in the different contextual needs, conducted in different modalities, and piloted/expanded to other project areas.
  3. Coordinate and manage Education project implementation (activities, budget, and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements and provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the Education Specialist.
  4. Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects while ensuring that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  5. In collaboration with the Education Specialist team, mainstream non-specialized psychosocial support approaches through remedial education interventions.
  6. Leadership, line management, and capacity building of project staff, ensuring transfer of key skills.
  7. Support the development of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems, ensure M&E compliance, together with the Education Specialist, Area Manager, and M&E Manager, and actively coordinate to ensure conducting monitoring and assessment exercises to achieve evidence-based programming.
  8. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy, ensuring effective communication flow between local-level education actors and the Specialist team to inform advocacy messages.
  9. Ensure refining program quality and measurement of implementation of Safe and Inclusive School Package, promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC, guaranteeing protection mainstreaming and usage of vulnerable criteria as defined by the Education CC in alignment with NRC Jordan Country Office.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a senior-level project implementation position within a humanitarian context with technical Education Expertise.
  • Contextual understanding and knowledge of the Education sector and stakeholders in Jordan.
  • Familiarity with Education related minimum standards.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in budgeting and finance.
  • Capacity building experience.
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong communication skills ensure maintaining good relations and smooth operations with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills.
