Paid Traineeships in Italy at EFSA

European Food Safety Authority EFSA is offering Traineeships, as it’s looking for motivated new talents from different academic and professional backgrounds (scientists, communication and legal professionals, IT experts etc...). EFSA Traineeships will be in Italy, Emilia-Romagna, Parma.

Under the supervision of your traineeship adviser within the unit of assignment, you will have the opportunity to:

• Get a first-hand experience into the work of a scientific EU Agency, developing new competencies and skills in line with your personal interests and professional aspirations; 
• Contribute to the overall objectives of the unit by supporting in drafting documents and reports, handling scientific and/or administrative work, and ensuring timely communication of outcomes; 
• Contribute to specific projects and activities with new ideas and innovative solutions; 
• Contribute to the planning and monitoring of the unit’s activities;
• Participate in several trainings which will help you grow professionally.

1. Have obtained a university degree of at least 3 years by the closing date of applications (See Annex I for the minimum national qualifications);
2. Have a good knowledge of English (minimum level: B2 according to CEFR);
3. Have never been an EFSA trainee or employed by EFSA in any capacity, receiving any sort of remuneration;
4. Meet the character requirements needed for the duties involved (e.g. a sworn affidavit to the effect that you have no criminal record).
5. Knowledge of/ or experience in an area relating to the activities of EFSA.
6. Competencies

• Working with others: ability to establish / maintain good relationships with team members, to demonstrate willingness to learn about and from others and to continually demonstrate effective speaking and listening skills;
• Plannning work for Results: ability to deliver work on time, to deliver added value to the service and to identify and organise resources needed to efficiently accomplish in own work;
• Manage projects: ability to manage time, resources and information in an effective manner for the achievement of the expected project results;
• Demonstrate Political Savvy and Strategic Agility: ability to think outside the box, adopt the changes needed to produce workable solutions and to seek and suggest effective initiatives for change. 
• Communication in English: ability to communicate effectively in English. 

Benefits:

EFSA is a European agency funded by the European Union that operates independently of the European legislative and executive institutions (Commission, Council, Parliament) and EU Member States.

It was set up in 2002 following a series of food crises in the late 1990s to be a source of scientific advice and communication on risks associated with the food chain. The agency was legally established by the EU under the General Food Law – Regulation 178/2002.
