Opportunity description

UN Talent Platform is offering graphic Design internship opportunity in Amman, Jordan. This internship is located within the ESCWA Technology Centre (Amman) of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ETC). The intern reports directly to the Executive Director of the Centre.

The duration of an ESCWA internship is normally two months on a full-time basis - this may be exceptionally extended for a maximum period of six months. The internship certificate is awarded on the recommendation of the supervisor.

Duties & responsibilities

The intern will undertake the following assignments during the period of his/her internship:

  1. Conceptualize and develop logos and brand identity.
  2. Design a wide range of graphic design maps, factsheets, infographics, and books.
  3. Determine the size and arrangement of copy and illustrative material, as well as font style and size.
  4. Edit images for communications activities.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues across the office to deliver design elements on brand and to specification.
  6. Review final layouts and suggest improvements if required.
  7. Finalize design materials in various media (digital media or printing).
  8. Attend team meetings.
  9. Any other task as required by the office.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Competencies: Professionalism, Technological Awareness, Creativity, Teamwork and Planning and Organizing.
  2. Education 1. Applicants must: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation;
  3. 2. Applicants must: (a) be computer literate in standard software applications; (b) have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter; and (c) have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  4. Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
  5. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Arabic is also a working language of ESCWA. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required.

Benefits:

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
