Opportunity description

UNFUSE is announcing that the submissions to Urban Meal mine challenge are now open. This competition is targeting designers who wish to contribute to the food industry in a positive and innovative way. The Food is one of the most fundamental elements of human existence, but mass consumerism through supermarkets is slowly changing how humans perceive, acquire and consume food, which eventually has raised issues like overconsumption, poor quality, high wastage and an over-dependence on manufacturing agencies. The UNFUSE design challenge is to bring farming to the city where people can see, participate, indulge and involve themselves in understanding how the food they eat is actually made. The space or the urban meal mine that designers have worked on must be in the core city, which implies being a revenue oriented business and has to leverage profits by inducing modern equipment and machinery. Your objective is to design a place where skills and crafts related to food which was once handed down through generations, can be created again. You must work on an intervention which lets people learn how to prepare and grow their own meals effortlessly, using technologies of today.

To be eligible to participate, you must fulfill the following:
[1] The competition is open to all students and professionals from all over the globe.
[2] Minimum eligible age for participation is 18 years.
[3] Team size is a maximum of 4 members per team.
[4] All disciplines are eligible to participate.
[5] Team: Teams with all student participants will be categorized under student teams.
