2019 A4 International Artists' Residency Program

ARIE 2019 is calling for Chinese and abroad artists, curators, and researchers to apply for a one to three months residency at the A4 Art Museum (deadline February 25th, 2019). Selected artists will be equipped with a program assistant and be professionally supported by the staff of the museum. Throughout the residence, artists will have the opportunities to attend assorted activities, and put on a final exhibition to end this unique residency program that helps artists dive into the local social fabrics and urban spaces.

Benefits:

We provide a round-trip plane ticket, accommodations, studio, material fees, different kinds of salons and sharing sessions and other opportunities depend on different project and cities (Chengdu, Yokohama, Bangkok).

Qualification:

The program mainly targets at artists or art groups with over three years of experience in art creation or curation, who have independent ideas, and have breakthrough practices in their fields. Artists or curators should mainly come from the field of contemporary art, with no limitation on the media used for creation. Flexibility differs from program to program, thus please confirm with each program.

Rights and Obligation:

  1. With the artist’s consent, work created during the residence will be donated to A4 Art Museum.  
  2.  Artists will own work completed during the residence, but the cost to transport it back to the home country should be covered by artists.
  3. Participators will have the opportunities of open workshop, academic discussion, Salon talk, other educational exchange activities, and the final annual exhibition.
  4. Reach out to the embassy, consulate, or cultural council of their home country for possible financial and media support.

Application:

Applicants must submit the following documents when applying for this residency:

  1. The latest CV in English and ensure all information in the CV is accurate.
  2. Personal photo, about 1M in size.
  3. Collection of representative work should reflect the artistic quality and can fully represent the personal style of the artist.
  4. Program plan during residency.
  5. The Residence Application Form.

About A4 Art Museum:

A4 Art Museum (formerly A4 Contemporary Arts Center) was founded in March 2008 by Chengdu Wide Horizon Investment Co., Ltd. The museum operated for eight years under the leadership of Ms. Sunny Sun. In its eight years of practical experience and academic research, A4 Art Museum has consistently worked to promote outstanding artists and the pioneering development of contemporary art. Through its international cooperative projects, its attention to local practices, and its implementation of diverse educational and cultural activities, A4 has strengthened its cooperation with the community and city and forwarded the development of a new urban artistic lifestyle.
