Kobe University is one of Japan’s leading public universities, known for its academic excellence and research achievements. It maintains partnerships with universities worldwide and offers exchange programs that allow international students to study at Kobe University for one or two semesters, gaining both academic and cultural experience in Japan.
Kobe University offers two main scholarships for incoming exchange students:
Kobe University Fund – awarded to outstanding exchange students automatically based on their exchange application; no separate application is required.
HUMAP Student Exchange Promotion Program (Inbound) – funded by Hyogo Prefecture to support student exchanges between universities in the Asia-Pacific region. Provides a monthly stipend for selected students from HUMAP partner institutions.
Deadline
The specific application deadline for the Fall Semester (October intake) exchange program at Kobe University is May 1, and nominations from the home university must be submitted before April 20.
Benefits
Kobe University Fund: Monthly stipend of approximately 60,000 JPY during the exchange period.
HUMAP Program: Monthly stipend of approximately 80,000 JPY for selected students.
Tuition fee waiver at Kobe University during the exchange period.

Eligibility criteria
Must be enrolled at a partner university with an exchange agreement with Kobe University.
For HUMAP Scholarship, the home university must be part of the HUMAP network.
Must be nominated by the home university.
Must have strong academic performance and submit the exchange application on time.
Must commit to the full duration of the exchange (usually 6–12 months).
