Opportunity description

Communication Arts announces the 2023 Typography Competition. The competition celebrates the best use of typography as the primary element in design and advertising. Any typographic project first published or produced from September 2021 through September 2022 is eligible.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Entries may originate from any country, but they must be translated into English.
  2. Submission of entries acknowledges the right of Communication Arts to use them for publication and exhibition.
  3. Typography Competition Categories:
  4. Advertising: print/out-of-home advertising, advertising posters, direct mail, etc.
  5. Brochures: annual reports, brochures, catalogs, corporate literature, etc.
  6. Posters: concert, performance, exhibition, theater, gallery, etc.
  7. Invitations, announcements, greeting cards, etc.
  8. Packaging: labels, shopping bags, audio/video/software packaging, etc.
  9. Books: covers and complete books.
  10. Periodicals: magazines, newspapers, newsletters, etc.
  11. Digital Media: websites, blogs, mobile applications, etc.
  12. Environmental: signage, environmental graphics, museum/tradeshow graphics, etc.
  13. Identity: logos/trademarks, business papers, collateral, etc.
  14. Hand-drawn type for commercial purposes.
  15. Miscellaneous: apparel, products for sale, etc.
  16. Unpublished: experimental/personal work not published.
  17. Student Work: work created for school assignments.

  19. Entries must be registered no later than Midnight (Pacific Standard Time), September 9, 2022. Entries registered after that date require a late fee of $10 per entry. No entries can be registered after September 23, 2022.
