Opportunity description

Kawamura Arts and Cultural Foundation is inviting artists to participate in the Socially Engaged Art Support Grant that is made to support their projects which will take place in Japan and commit to the community and society; implement activities together with communities and residents; and aim to build and demonstrate models of a better society.

Requirements:

[1] Projects should apply strikingly new methods or ways of expression.

[2] Socially Engaged Art projects must be newly implemented in Japan.

[3] Projects should become a catalyst towards social changes.

[4] Projects should aim to build and demonstrate models of a better society.

[5] Projects with artists should take initiatives as its leader.

[6] Dialogue based projects that should focus on building continuous partner relationships with communities.

[7] Projects should include a collaborative production process with participants.

[8] Applicants of all age ranges and all nationalities are eligible.

[9] Projects based on production for an exhibition, a theatrical act, or an exhibition piece will be rejected.

[10] Projects with outcomes unrelated to local communities are not eligible. 

[11] Projects that have been already shown in exhibitions (or would be shown) are not eligible.
