Opportunity description

The CRL invites high-performing students who study in UK universities to apply for an awardto help them with some of the additional costs involved in studying, such as the cost of course materials, textbooks and living expenses. Applicants will be judged by the internal panel and the 10 strongest entrants will be selected to receive the £1,000 cash prize and will be notified in a ceremony in 1 December 2018.

Eligibility criteria:

[1] First-year undergraduates only – at the time of application, be enrolled in an eligible course in a higher education institution in the UK, having either started their first year in September 2017, or starting their first year in September 2018.

[2] Students who have a confirmed place at a recognised UK higher education institution for a foundation, bachelor’s or integrated master’s degree under one of the following disciplines: civil engineering, construction, (landscape) architecture.

[3] Students must submit proof that they have accepted an offer to attend an eligible UK university (or higher education institution) for a semester/grading period starting in September 2017 and 2018. This proof should not only include an acceptance offer letter but also show proof that you have unconditionally accepted the offer. The acceptance letter must: 

  • Be on school letterhead
  • Display a school seal or logo
  • Contain a signature and phone number of a representative from the admissions office

[4] All documents must clearly show your name as the same on the passport and the name and address of the issuing school.

[5] Postgraduate students are not eligible to receive the scholarship.

[6] Both current first-year students and students commencing their first year of university study are eligible.

[7] Those commencing foundation programmes prior to the beginning a degree are not eligible.

[8] Qualifications considered for scholarship purposes must all be gained normally within three years prior to university admission.

[9] Applicants should show their future potential, as demonstrated by their academic intentions, educational achievements, any other relevant experience, and their aspirations for their future career.

[10] Candidates must be Home, EU or International students in the UK. Applications from students studying in other countries cannot be accepted.
