<p></p><div> The American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) awards two prizes for the best-unpublished book manuscript on an Indian subject:</div><div>[1] The Edward Cameron Dimock, Jr. Prize in the Indian Humanities</div><div>[2] The Joseph W. Elder Prize in the Indian Social Sciences</div><p>A prize committee will determine the yearly winners, though the committee may choose not to award prizes for any year in which worthy submissions are lacking. The prize will include a subvention of $2500 for the press publishing the manuscript.</p><p><b>Eligibility criteria:</b></p><p>[1] Junior scholars who have received the PhD within the last eight years (2010 and after) are eligible.</p><p>[2] Must be the first book by the author.</p><p>[3]  Unrevised dissertations are not accepted.</p><p>[4] There is no designated press for publication.</p><p>[5] Applicants need not have held any AIIS fellowship nor studied in an AIIS language program.</p><p>[6] Manuscripts published before the annual submission deadline are not eligible.</p><p>[7] Manuscripts under review or under contract with a press are eligible. </p><p></p>
