Opportunity description

World Whale Film Festival invites you to its annual festival which promotes visual storytellers who are passionate about the oceans. Their mission is to tell powerful stories that inspire ocean and wildlife conservation around the world. The official theme of World Whale Film Festival 2020 is ‘Heroic Acts of Conservation.”

Eligibility:

  1. filmmakers of all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to participate.
  2. The festival is looking for powerful storytelling about the ocean environment.
  3. Pacific whale foundation supports ethical visual storytelling that accurately represents culture, ecosystems, and wildlife.
  4. Filmmaker guarantee that the welfare of all marine wildlife and the marine environment was respected.
  5. Multimedia storytelling consists of video, photography, and illustration all visual content is acceptable.
  6. The competition encourages 3 to 15-minute shorts or full-length documentary trailers to introduce your study.
  7. You can submit one digital file per entry.
  8. Entries will be considered based on originality, technical excellence, message, overall impact, and artistic. 
  9. It's important to include basic information about your film with every submission. 

Prizes:

A prize with a value $1,000 will be given in two categories:

  • Best “Plastic Pollution Solutions” film
  • Best overall.

Since 1980, Maui whale festival has offered a series of inspiring events held during Maui's peak humpback whale season. Each occasion is designed to celebrate and inspire environmental stewardship alongside a strong community of Maui residents and visitors.
