Opportunity description
The Data Journalism Awards are the first international awards recognising outstanding work in the field of data journalism worldwide.
In 2012, the competition was organized by Global Editors, supported by Google News Lab, John S. and James L. Knight, and in partnership with Chartbeat and Microsoft, as well as smaller organizations such as Ojo Publico, Civio Foundation and Convoca.

Submission of applications
Application for 2019 is now open and press data can be applied from all over the world via this form,(You will need to log in to the Data Journal community to access the form, to sign in or register, click here).

Competition rules
- All works must be published or broadcast between 26 March 2018 and 7 April 2019.
- All application forms must be filled in English. Entries in non-English languages may be accepted provided they are accompanied by full explanations of work in English and, if possible, translation.
- The radio material must be copied and the videos must contain an English translation.
- If your project is originally in a language other than English, you do not need to translate the entire section, but you must submit a presentation of the project written in English.
- Articles may be published: online, radio, sound, broadcast or print, applicants can submit multiple articles, but only one article per category. The jury may decide to move articles from a category if they think it is more appropriate for another category.
- Articles may include a single work or series of works.
- Image (jpeg, jpg or png) is required with good quality for each article.
Note: no submission fees are required.

Awards:
The final prize winners will be announced in May 2019 and the winning projects will be announced at a gala dinner at the 2019 GEN Summit, A fully covered trip to Athens, Greece, and the Summit Summit + Data Journalism 2019, to be held in June 2019.
