Opportunity description

Stanford University’s Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (CREEES) invites scholars with a PhD degree to apply for the Wayne Vucinich Residential Fellowship for 12 weeks (January 15th to June 15th, 2019). During the fellowship period, the Vucinich Fellow is expected to pursue their independent research in residency and to participate actively in the scholarly activities of the Center. The fellow will have access to Stanford University Libraries and the Hoover Institution Library and Archives as well as a community of scholars at Stanford. In addition to that, they will hold a lecture, seminar or workshop on their research, organized by the center.

Eligibility:

[1] The fellowship is open to scholars in any discipline whose research focuses on historical or contemporary topics in Russia, East Europe, the Caucasus, or Central Asia.

[2] Scholars who have received the PhD within the past five years are eligible to apply (a PhD in hand is required at the time the residency begins).

[3] Preference will be given to scholars who are residents of countries that fall under the direct purview of the Center: Russia, East Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

What the fellowship covers:

The fellowship funds international travel, health insurance, and visa support, in addition to a $12,000 stipend for living expenses. In addition to library access, the fellow will have use of a shared work space at the center.
