Opportunity description
The Hong Kong Baptist University invites applications from interested writers to join the International Writers’ Workshop (IWW) as part of a residency program, which was founded in 2004 by the university and has hosted over 100 writers from more than 50 countries. This year’s program will be from February 17 to March 17, 2019, and will discuss the theme “The Many Worlds of Science Fiction”.
Applicants must:
[1] Have at least one published book
[2] Reside outside of Hong Kong
[3] Have a functional command of English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
[4] Attend the entire residency program
[5] Attend the Welcome Ceremony during the first week
[6] Participate in the Literary Festival from March 11-17, 2019, and writers are encouraged to share a piece of writing in conversation with the Literary Festival’s theme
What the International Writers’ Workshop provides:
[1] Roundtrip economy class airfare
[2] Accommodation on the university’s campus for 4 weeks
[3] A per diem
