<p>VSO -an international development organisation- is offering a volunteering opportunity in <strong>Ethiopia&nbsp;</strong>as an <strong>Early Grades Literacy Numeracy Education Specialist</strong>. The volunteer will be responsible for enhancing children&rsquo;s basic skills through delivering capacity building interventions for key institutions and supporting children from disadvantaged communities in their education.</p><h3><strong>Skills, Qualifications and Experience</strong></h3><ul><li>A recognized MA/BA level Qualification in Early Grade Literacy and Numeracy development;</li><li>At least five years&rsquo; experience of teaching children in early years literacy and numeracy;</li><li>Proven experience In teacher training;</li><li>Proven knowledge and experience in child-centred active learning methodologies;</li><li>Practical knowledge and skills in designing literacy and numeracy intervention; including the development and use of of M&amp;E system;</li><li>Experience in developing curriculum/syllabus and teaching materials for teaching literacy and Numeracy;</li><li>Practical understanding of children and teachers&rsquo; needs in areas of basic language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), mathematics and other basic subjects.</li></ul><h3><strong>Competencies and Behaviour</strong></h3><p>VSO believes progress is only possible by working together. VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.
