Opportunity description
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is granting up to six Georg Forster Research Awards to internationally renowned academics from developing and transition countries in recognition of their entire academic record to date. Award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague.

€60,000 award money (research stay of up to 12 months in Germany possible)
Eligibility criteria
- Eligible for nomination are researchers whose fundamental discoveries, new theories or findings have had a lasting effect on their discipline beyond their immediate research area
- And who will continue to contribute to developing research-based approaches to the specific challenges of developing and emerging countries.
- The individual nominated must additionally meet the following criteria:
- The nominee’s academic achievements must be internationally recognised and proven by corresponding successes in research.
- The nominee may not previously have received an award from the Humboldt Foundation for her/his academic work.
- The nominee must be a citizen of a developing country
Required Documents:
- Brief description of the nominee's outstanding academic achievements to date (2,000 characters max)
- The relevance of the academic achievements for the development of the nominee's country
- Nominee's impact as multiplicator in research, teaching and science management as well as in other processes of development outside research

About the organization
It promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany. Its research fellowships and research awards allow you to come to Germany to work on a research project you have chosen yourself together with a host and collaborative partner. If you are a scientist or scholar from Germany you can profit from our support and carry out a research project abroad as a guest of one of more than 29,000 Humboldt Foundation alumni worldwide - the Humboldtians. As an intermediary organisation for German foreign cultural and educational policy it promotes international cultural dialogue and academic exchange.
