The Arts & Literature Grant of Shoman Foundation aims at highlighting the importance of artistic culture and creative literature. The grant envisions the promotion of a culture of reading and research, as well as enriching and disseminating Arabic literary and artistic content on all paper and digital media. Therefore, the scope of the program is to invest in talents from the cultural sector, develop literary and artistic spaces as well as support the preservation and protection of national cultural heritage. The Arts & Literature Grant has contributed to supporting more than 110 projects through the last five years and till the moment within the different Arts and Literature sectors.

Arts And Literature Sectors Eligible To Apply For The Grant:

  1. Performing Arts: And it includes theater, music, and dance.
  2. Audio Visual: And it includes Edutainment Animation (2D, 3D, Graphic motion), Post productions of Films and Documentation of cultural scenes and activities and influences.
  3. Festivals and Cultural Activities: From music to portrayals of arts or dance, festivals bring people together and allow them to collaborate and work together, share knowledge and skills and promote cultural diversity.
  4. National Heritage: And it includes Documentation of cultural national heritage, raining(s) and workshops involving the preservation of national culture and Storytelling/Hakawati art.
  5. Artistic and Literary Spaces: and it includes Creative writing in Arabic language photography, poetry in Arabic Language, graffiti, comics, art therapy in addition to Projects and platforms that enrich the Arabic language content online
  6. Library Development Support

Applications That Are Not Eligible:

  1. Religious or politically focused activities.
  2. Activities/ projects that include construction or building work.
  3. Publishing and distribution.  
  4. Covering the cost of attending conferences, workshops or competitions inside or outside Jordan.
  5. Activities/projects implemented outside Jordan and Palestine.
  6. Activities/ projects that do not benefit the community, but rather serve private interests.
  7. Institutions or entities that have previously received funding and did not commit to the rules and guidelines of the Foundation.
  8. Covering operational costs that are not tied to any project activities.
  9. Fundraising events and campaigns.
  10. Projects that do not reflect the mission and vision of the Foundation.

Rules and Guidelines:

  1. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration. The applicant should include all necessary supporting documents with the application form.
  2. Projects and activities should have a clear impact on the community in which it targets the public audience and is provided to them for free. (ALL ACTIVITIES MUST BE FREE FOR THE PUBLIC)
  3. Project activities cannot commence before the foundation committee decision is taken and the agreements signed.
  4. Projects cannot be for profit, in the sense that no profits are to be distributed to partners or stakeholders but to be invested in order to keep and maintain the sustainability of the project and enhance the impact coming out of it.
  5. The foundation has the right to request adjustments to the project or the budget as they see fit.
  6. The foundation has the right to decline any request even without declaring the reason.
  7. The foundation has the right to decline/reject funding any project even if it matches the eligibility criteria.
  8. The Foundation does not support two different projects that are implemented simultaneously and by the same entity
  9. Projects must consider the mission and vision of the foundation.
  10. Applications from applicants that have previously received grants from the foundation need to show a track record of the impact of their previous projects, as well as a sustainability plan.
  11. Projects that received funding for more than 3 years in a row are not eligible.
  12. Applicants must show a 10% contribution to the requested grant. (Monetary or contribution).
  13. Administrative costs covered by the foundation should not exceed 10% of the total budget of the project.
