Opportunity description
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invites you to apply to the Heart of Amman Startup Development Program, which targets startups at all stages (Idea, Seed and Growth). These startups should clearly have an impact on the community of the downtown area of Amman, Jordan.
Project Details:
The project will help 100 startups to develop their ideas and start their own businesses by:
- A training camp to develop your personal abilities and develop your blueprint and business model.
- Build a network of relationships with experts, investors, and mentors.
- Counseling.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The downtown area of Amman should be one of the target groups of the project.
- The company has a clear social impact.
- The company should have at least two members.
- A member of the company must be a Jordanian national.
- A member of the company is able to commit to a 12-day training camp.
- The company's members must be at least 21 years old.
- Females are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.
Funding:
The program will provide support to promising start-ups to be selected at the end of the program in as USD 10,000 and USD 5,000 non-stake investments with a total investment of USD 200,000.
Heart of Amman:
The overall goal of the project is to promote economic opportunities for sustainable livelihoods through an urban revitalization in downtown Amman. UNDP believes that the cultural and historical heritages of any city should be taken into consideration during its development in order to affect change that is in line with the identity and history of its inhabitants. In this way, development acts as a tool not only for economic advancement but also as an expression of the identity of its people. At that end, the project and through “urban acupuncture” aims at stimulating Amman’s local economic growth and reduce inequalities through promoting entrepreneurship among youth and women, attracting tourism, increasing purchasing power, and reactivating public spaces.
