Opportunity description
EUNIC Jordan, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union in Jordan, is issuing a call for proposals for the EU Member States in Jordan and organizations working on human rights in Jordan (whether European or Jordanian), to mark Human Rights Day on December 10th, 2018. EUNIC Jordan will provide support to the selected projects either on a basis of co-financing or full support.
Proposal Theme
To be eligible for a contribution under the Human Rights Fund, activities must relate to one of the following areas:
- Promote press freedom and encourages public dialogue through quality journalism.
- Advance respect for human rights through online outlets and promotes the safety of human rights defenders, bloggers, and activists.
- Improved policies that stimulate the investment climate and labor rights by engaging relevant stakeholders.
- Combat forced labor or modern slavery
- Promote joint efforts to improve socio-economic justice.
- Enhance the capacity of the Jordanian Human Rights organizations that strive at improving Human Rights status.
- Promote and support the rights of persons with disabilities.
- Promote equality and people’s knowledge of and access to their rights.
- Suppore freedom of religion or belief.
Funding
- The EUNIC Jordan Cluster, through funding from the European Delegation in Jordan, will provide financial support to the selected projects for a maximum of 15,000 euros depending on the number of projects selected. Proposals should include the minimum of support needed from EUNIC to be viable. Financial support is offered either as a full financing of the projector as a co-financing of the project. The amount available (15,000 euros) will be split based on the EUNIC board decision and on a project-by-project basis depending on the number of projects submitted.
- Other eligible costs: Eligible costs are those related to the implementation of the project and its actions (e.g travel and accommodation, catering, rental of venues, printing material, etc.) including the participation of experts in the project’s activities or the hiring of external consultants to carry out some parts of it. Other costs eligible include the purchase of equipment, and costs related to the development of infrastructure within the framework of the projects. Local staff salaries and management costs will not be covered.
Eligibility
Each European beneficiary (including cultural centers, cooperation agencies and centers, and embassies) along with European and local organizations working on human rights in Jordan are invited to submit a proposal for a project, provided that they have established a partnership with a local organization/NGO/CBO for at least one phase of the project (planning, implementation, evaluation, final beneficiary…). To be eligible for funding, the project has to be implemented before the end of 2018.
Evaluation Criteria
Eligible actions/projects are activity-based projects in the field of human rights, including:
- Training, workshops, and capacity-building activities
- Inter-cultural dialogue
- Education
- Cultural/ artistic activities
- Other relevant activities.
Project Requirements:
- Impact: the proposal gives high visibility to the EU or MemberState presence and actions in Jordan. A concrete/lasting positive impact on society is also highly appreciated.
- Beyond showcasing: the proposal goes beyond showcasing and one-off events. It shows how it responds to local needs. In those cases where only showcasing can be practiced, the evaluation against this requirement may be more flexible.
- Partnerships: the proposal involves strategic partnerships such as local actors, governments, ministries, other organizations/ projects,inter-cluster collaboration, etc.
