Opportunity description

Hyundai Motor and the United Nations Development Program offer the "For Tomorrow" initiative. It aims to provide innovative solutions for a more sustainable future in various fields such as mobility, waste management, and urban living. The first edition of the for-Tomorrow initiative will focus on the United Nations’ call to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

Competition Rules:

  • Solutions should focus on SDG 11, the United Nations Development Programme’s call to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
  • Solutions must be viable, ready for realistic deployment, and preferably with a proof-of-concept and initial traction.
  • Solutions must be shared by legal or partial legal owners, and if you are sharing a solution for an organization, you need the legal consent of that organization to represent the solution on their behalf.
  • Legal requirement to share a solution: You must be 16 or over to share your solutions.
  • Solutions with mass-market distribution will not be considered, but commercially-viable solutions are welcome.

Solutions Terms:

Solution Introduction:

Your introduction must include:

  • A solution title.
  • A short description of the solution (Max. 250 characters).
  • A selection of up to three category tags that apply to your solution.
  • A featured image in landscape format. (Max. 200 kB. Formatted in PNG, JPG or JPEG. Maximum file size: 2 MB.) Please note that there should be no text on the feature image.

Solution Presentation:

Your presentation must include:

A description of the solution (a minimum of 1,000 characters).

All of your presentation text should:

  • Clearly address the sustainability challenges your solution tackles.
  • Present a solution you have devised to improve the sustainability of cities and human settlements, even if the approach is multifaceted.

Your presentation may also include:

  • A video of no more than five minutes, but we recommend a length of three minutes.
  • Support material that can be uploaded as images (technical drawings, articles, etc.; formatted in a PNG, JPG or JPEG of a max. file size of 2 MB).

Your video (which is optional) should:

  • Provide a clear overview of your solution.
  • Clearly address the sustainability challenges it tackles.
  • Be hosted on YouTube.
  • Have accurate English-language subtitles if it is in a language other than English.

Solution Owners:

Solution owners should be clearly identified in the bio section of their solution page. Require a brief overview (250 characters) of your background that helps explain why you are proposing this solution to the for-Tomorrow community.

Some other things you might want to keep in mind when preparing your presentation:

  • Use formatting (paragraphs, headlines, etc.) that makes your text easy to read.
  • Tell us about the sustainability challenge you faced and its impact on your life.
  • What inspired your solution? How did you come up with it?
  • Are there other ways your solution could benefit people, or other contexts and places it could be of use?
  • Would a government or NGO find your solution useful? Why?
  • If applicable, provide images of appropriate sourcing and references.

Solution presentation language:

  • All written material should be in English.
  • Videos in languages other than English require accurate English language subtitles.
