Opportunity description

Global Giving invites non-profit organizations around the world to participate in online training and win a financial grant through the organization's crowdfunding campaign. The program works to build the skills of organizations, facilitate their access to the necessary tools, and increase the number of supporters to achieve successful crowdfunding. After the program ends, the organization becomes a permanent member of GlobalGiving and it’ll have access to all the tools, training, and one-on-one support available in the GlobalGiving community.

TRAINING TOPICS INCLUDE:

  • Crowdfunding 101;
  • Mapping your potential donor network;
  • Storytelling and email appeals; and
  • Creating SMART goals.


Benefits

Organizations that successfully complete the Global Giving Accelerator by raising at least $5,000 total from a minimum of 40 different donors will earn:

  • Permanent membership in the GlobalGiving community, including ongoing opportunities to attract new corporate and individual donors.
  • Inclusion in a GlobalGiving press release announcing the Accelerator graduates (example).
  • A custom media kit to help promote your accomplishment
  • A certificate of completion from GlobalGiving.
  • Additional promotional opportunities, including through GlobalGiving’s social media or homepage, for top-performers.

Extra funding:

  • Bonus Day: During the 24-hour Bonus Day, all Accelerator participants will compete for a share of GlobalGiving's $20,000 Incentive Fund and two $1,000 bonus prizes.
  • Overall Prizes: At the end of the Accelerator, prizes will be awarded to the top three organizations in the following categories: Most Funds Raised, Most Unique Donors, and Most Recurring/Monthly Donors.
  • Recurring/Monthly Donor Incentives: More information will be shared about all the ways you can win extra funding from GlobalGiving during the Accelerator once your application is approved!


Eligibility criteria

Any registered nonprofit organization anywhere in the world.

Required Documents:

Organizations registered in the United States:

  • IRS Employer Identification Number (EIN): If your organization has a GuideStar profile associated with its EIN, the application will automatically populate with documents that your organization provided to GuideStar. If you do not have a GuideStar profile or the profile does not contain the required documents, the application will prompt you to upload any of the following documents: an IRS Letter of Determination, a recent IRS 990, and/or 2 years of financial statements.
  • Program materials: Please upload materials that show your organization’s activities and achievements. Examples of good program materials include annual reports, brochures, newsletters, or news reports about your organization.
  • Disbursement information: Please provide information for a bank account that can receive funds for your organization.
  • Names of senior staff and board members.
  • Terms and Conditions: Please review and indicate your agreement to each of these items: GlobalGiving Terms + Conditions, Anti-terror Certification, and Non-discrimination Policy (these will be provided in the application).

Organizations registered outside of the United States

If your documents are not in English, you will also be asked to provide English translations; They accept unofficial translations, including those made with Google Translate:

  • Program materials: Please upload materials that show your organization’s activities and achievements. Examples of good program materials include annual reports, brochures, newsletters, or news reports about your organization. Photos without descriptions will not be accepted.
  • Letter of reference: The letter of reference should come from someone who has seen or experienced your work and impact, such as funders, partner organizations, prominent community members, or program beneficiaries. They cannot accept letters from family members or anyone directly involved in your organization such as staff, volunteers, or board members. The letter should be written within the past 3 months and addressed to GlobalGiving and should include an email address and a phone number so they can contact the referrer if necessary.
  • Certificate of government registration: This document should be issued by a government office. It’s the document that shows that your organization is registered as a charitable organization in your country.
  • Founding document: Please upload a complete version of your founding document, such as a Constitution, Articles of Association, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Charter, By-Laws, Trust Deed, etc. This document should be stamped by a government agency or signed by your board members.
  • Financial documents (2 years of financial statements and a current year budget).
  • Please enter a bank account in the organization’s name. Personal bank accounts or bank accounts that do not match the organization’s name will not be accepted.
  • Names of senior staff and board members.
  • Terms and Conditions: Please review and indicate your agreement to each of these items: GlobalGiving Terms + Conditions, Anti-terror Certification, and Non-discrimination Policy(these will be provided in the application).
