Opportunity description

The United Nations Volunteers program is offering a volunteer opportunity in supporting the development of knowledge documents related to the Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE). The volunteer will support UNDP's efforts to strengthen knowledge sharing, global communication and learning in the area of Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Excellent written English and document editing skills.
  • Theoretical and/or practical knowledge of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) in international development is required.
  • Knowledge of Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) and UN terminology is an advantage but not a requirement.

Main Tasks:

UNDP's Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) practice encompasses programming in 34 countries, integrating support to livelihoods, governance, dialogue, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding. Following a global call to action to strengthen the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) of these projects, UNDP is leading a shift towards evidence-informed action. The volunteer will support this effort by compiling and editing knowledge products related to UNDP's work on the prevention of violent extremism. The primary deliverable will be supporting the development and editing of a resource package on PVE and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL). The resource package will be used by PVE practitioners across UNDPs Country Offices to inspire the better implementation of MEL practices on the ground. The volunteer would support the research/document review, drafting of country case stories, writing sections of, and editing the overall.
