Opportunity description

Community Development And Sustainability Organization (CDS) is looking for Online Volunteers that will support in sharing innovative fundraising ideas and researching potential donor organizations and funding opportunities. The Online Volunteers should focus primarily on the US and Europe to research potential donors to fund the construction and operation of a community hospital in Kimaswa Kenya. The hospital will be primarily addressing maternal mortality and malnutrition in Western Kenya. Online Volunteers will never be requested to make donations in-kind or financial contributions or to solicit donations from third parties.

Background and Objectives:

CDS Kenya is building a community hospital not-for-profit hospital in the Kimaswa region in western Kenya. The institution located in Cheptais Sub County, Mt. Elgon Kenya will focus in particular on the well-being of children, women, and especially mothers. As Kenya faces a high maternal and child mortality rate the not-for-profit hospital truly echoes the need for a medical facility that offers high standard treatment. The not-for-profit hospital will aim to treat all common diseases and serve a population of 100,000 to 200,000 people (depending on if people crossing the border from Eastern Uganda are considered). Besides offering the full range of standard medical treatment the hospital will also operate a pharmacy and a laboratory. This makes the institution unique in the sense of its quality and diversity of services. In order to run the facilities, the hospital will rely on both local and international personnel. Services at the not-for-profit hospital are offered for free. However, a pricing model will be applied which works on a voluntary basis and takes the economic situation of the customers into account.

Requirements:

Candidates must have existing experience in fundraising and partnership in the US. Candidates must think "out of the box", be results-oriented, a team player, dedicated to getting the job done, and passionate about the cause of CDS.
