UN Volunteer is preparing multiple deployments of the Learning Passport in Eastern and Southern Africa and they are seeking the support of motivated Online volunteers to support UNICEF country offices and the Regional education teams. UN Volunteer is looking for technical voluntary assistance in identifying, adapting, and localizing distance learning resources. The successful candidate will be assisting, sourcing translations and uploading translations on cloud-based platform Transifex and updating online learning resources which will then be distributed in-country.
The Learning Passport was founded by UNICEF and Microsoft in 2018 to address the challenges faced by millions of children and youth to access continued, quality education due to disruptions caused by crisis and displacement. During the Covid Pandemic, over 1.57 billion children across more than 190 countries have been directly affected by school closures at the peak of COVID-19 - disrupting the learning and the provision of critical services to children and youth across the world, especially the most disadvantaged.
Eligibility criteria
Volunteers should have:
- Min 3 years professional experience in developing or supporting technology and development initiatives.
- Experience with managing content on Learning Management System is a plus.
- Experience managing the localization of web or mobile interfaces is a plus.
- Experience and confident working with Microsoft Suite (Spreadsheet, docs, slides).
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
