Photography Competition "My Place in Nature" from International Union for Conservation of Nature 2019

IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, announce the Fourth Red List of Ecosystems Photo Contest - My Place in Nature. The contest is open to all photographers and aspiring photographers worldwide. The contest is open to all photographers, regardless of age, gender or nationality and professional skill levels. Entrants under 18 years of age (“Minors”) require valid written and signed permission from a parent or legal guardian (“Authorized Representative”) through the parental consent form, which can be found within the submission form.

How to Enter: 

• Complete and submit the Contest online form.
• Participation in this Contest is free of charge for the Photographer(s).
• Each entry must contain the following: (a) Have a clear link to the theme “My place in nature”. (b) Entry modalities: 1) Individual photo. 2) Series of photos: between three (3) and five (5) numbered images, with a clear conceptual link. 
• Each Photographer may submit up to two (2) Individual photos.
• Each Photographer may submit up to two (2) Series of photos (up to ten (10) images in total).
• Each Photographer may send submissions under both modalities, (up to twelve (12) images in total).
• Photographs of any ecosystem (terrestrial, freshwater, marine, etc.) may be submitted.
• Entry is strictly limited to original images to which the Photographer holds all applicable rights.
• All photographs must be taken in or from a safe and lawful location.

Technical requirements:

1. Only digital images will be accepted, but images do not need to have been taken with a digital camera. 
2. Images that have been retouched using software or by other means will be accepted, but it is not permitted to add or remove objects to/from the image or otherwise to alter the image so that it misrepresents the reality of the scene it depicts.
3. Both colour and monochrome images will be accepted.
4. File format: PNG or JPG.
5. File resolution: 300 dpi.
6. Minimum image size: 15 cm per 30 cm.
7. Maximum file size: 20 Mb.

Contest Prize: 

• The finalist photographs will be exhibited at The IUCN World Conservation Congress, to be held in 2020 in Marseille.
• The winning photographs will be published online on the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems website and social media, as well as in promotional printed materials at IUCNs sole discretion.
• Additional prizes will be announced if and as they become available. 

Evaluating: 

Photographs may be submitted having a clear relation to the theme My Place in Nature, and two modalities: Individual Photo or Series of Photos. All submitted photographs will be evaluated in a first round by a jury. The photographs that receive the highest scores by the jury will move on to a second round where they will be evaluated by the general public (through the official site). The winner will be chosen on the outcome of both voting rounds and announced on social media.
