Opportunity description

Nissin Kogyo is delighted to announce its annual architecture design competition, and the theme for this year is Living Upon the History. The organizers encourage participants to think about how humans should face the New History in the present day, as the missions of those engaged in architecture is remembering the old things and weaving history of lands and people for the future. Living upon the history is a fundamental problem that raises questions on how to deal with a series of interpretations, and how to determine the temperament of future living and deciding on its style. To take part in this competition, you must submit a proposal that reach into the root of such questions, and how can history be expressed in terms of space and time in the present day

Conditions:

[1] Participants will receive one registration number for one submission.

[2] The sponsors will not answer any questions about the theme.

[3] Entries must not have been previously published in any form.

[4] Copyrights on the entries will remain to the property of the entrants, but the sponsors of the competition will reserve the right to publish the winning entries in magazines and other media.

[5] Entries should not be submitted simultaneously to any other competitions, as they will be disqualified.

[6] Do not use images from magazines, books or websites,  Competition entries must not infringe the copyright of any other works.

[7] Do not publish your submission in any form until after the winners are announced on the competition website.

Requirements of entries:

[1] Regarding your submitted works, all should represent the concept of the theme just by drawings and less explanation in words. Drawings can be blocked plan, floor plan, elevation view, cross-section view, perspective view, model photo, etc. You may use a blueprint, pencil, ink, color, photos, print etc. at your discretion.

[2] Regarding the materials, you should use one sheet of thick Drawing paper (like Kent paper) of A2-Size (420mm x 594mm). Thin paper such as imitation vellum-paper should not be used since easy to break when opening the envelope. Paneled or framed works will not be accepted. 

Prizes:

Winners will receive a total prize amount of 2,600,000 Yen including income tax, in addition to the opportunity of exhibiting their work at AIJ building Tokyo Japan, from February 12th to February 15th, 2019. The money prize will be distributed as follows:

[1] First Place (one winner):  1,000,000 Yen

[2] Second Place (one winner):  500,000 Yen

[3] Third Place (one winner):  300,000 Yen

[4] Merit Prize (Eight winners): 100,000 Yen each

The Award ceremony will be held in Japan for the winners of the competition. Travel expenses for attending the award ceremony should be borne by the entrant.
