The Beirut International Film Festival 2019 is calling for entries for the following categories and countries:
- Middle Eastern Film Competition: it includes Feature Films, Documentaries and Shorts. The competition covers countries of the MENA region (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, the Gulf states, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco & Algeria).
- Rejection Front:
- Public Square (freedom of expression corner) Feature Films, Documentaries and Shorts – MENA region.
- Environment / Ecology – Documentaries or Feature Films open for people from all around the world.
- Culinary – Documentaries or Feature Films open for people from all around the world.
About organization
Over the years, BIFF has hosted many international and Middle Eastern names such as Abbas Kiarostami, Isabelle Huppert, Umbert Balsan, Yusra, Lebleba, Francis Ford Coppola, Juliette Binoche, Julie Gayet, Marco Mueller (Venice), Tom Luddy (Telluride). BIFF encourages to bring art-house films to the Lebanese audience who would otherwise never have the chance to see these films.
