Opportunity description
Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT), in cooperation with German DW Akademie, offers local media and interested individuals the opportunity to participate in the "Local Voices - International Exchange" competition, an international competition for local media in Jordan.
During the current Corona pandemic crisis, large companies and local media organizations alike are facing many problems such as complex journalistic obstacles, technical disruptions, as well as controlling financial challenges. In critical times, innovative ideas must be found to strengthen media outlets and provide quality journalism to a larger segment of the audience through new methods and channels.
Local media outlets around the world have developed interesting techniques that can be used anywhere. Despite this, there are no local, regional or international opportunities to meet and exchange ideas. "Local Voices - International Exchange" offers the opportunity to develop an international platform for the exchange of ideas and different solutions through a distinguished international competition in which representatives from Jordan, Pakistan, and Serbia will participate.
About the competition:
The “Local Voices – International Exchange” competition invites local media and interested activists in Jordan to present solutions or projects that helped them adapt to the effects of the emerging coronavirus crisis and prepare optimally for similar future challenges that can be adopted and used anywhere. Participants will be selected through two stages:
- First Stage:
A local committee in each of the participating countries will select 10 distinguished projects and ideas to qualify for the next stage. The ten qualified projects from each country will be shared with each other through a common online platform.
An international panel consisting of a select group of judges representing each participating country will then select 10 outstanding projects from the three countries to qualify for the second stage of the competition.
- Second Stage:
The ten qualified projects enter the second phase (November 2021 - January 2022), through which projects can develop through a financial grant of up to 6000 euros, in addition to support and guidance by a group of experts. This stage will also include a series of workshops aimed at supporting and developing eligible projects and ideas.
Benefits
The competition offers a unique opportunity to collaborate between local media organizations from different countries (Jordan, Pakistan, Serbia) across international borders and help each other learn and share innovative programs and economic solutions to strengthen response and immunity to future crises.
