Opportunity description

Leaders of Tomorrow organizes a community innovation competition entitled: Inclusive Early Education Hackathon "Inclusive Education for a Promising Future", where a group of creative Jordanian youth is selected to present innovative proposals and solutions to develop educational solutions (educational materials and tools) to support early education in Jordan ( Kindergarten stage KG1 and KG2), and support children with disabilities and children coming from different cultural backgrounds such as refugees, on the occasion of the International Day for the Celebration of Persons with Disabilities. The Community Innovation Challenge: Inclusive Early Learning Hackathon is organized in partnership with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Benefits

The support received by the hackathon participants is as follows:

  • Support from a group of mentored experts in aspects of education, inclusive education for people with disabilities and those coming from different backgrounds, and universal design principles.
  • A financial grant of 5,000 euros for five winning projects.

Eligibility criteria

  • The idea must belong to a team of at least two people.
  • All participants with disabilities, refugees, and people from different cultural backgrounds are welcome, as teams whose members consist of these categories will be given priority when applying.

Participants must meet the following criteria:

  • The age of the participants in the challenge should not be less than 20 years and not more than 35 years.
  • Educational background in the field of engineering, design, architectural design, early education and education, and other disciplines appropriate to the topics of the challenge.
  • The competition encourages Jordanian university students and accompanying educational staff to participate.
  • It is not required that the entire team members have the above-mentioned specializations.
