Competition for the Outstanding Artwork and a Chance to Win $3,000 from UAEH

Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) is pleased to announce the opening of a competition for outstanding works that has been launched to recognize, promote, encourage, and share the work of national and international art students and professionals. The competition is part of the International Image Festival (FINI) which will be on April 20-28, 2023. The competition will be divided into two established categories and each of them into the following genres:

• Photography (analogue or digital)
• Alternative Techniques (digital graphics, photo montage or collage)
• Documentary Film (full-length film or short film)
• Poster (free technique)

If you are among the winners, you will have one of the following prizes:

For Photography and Documentary Film

• In the category of Professionals:
• First place: $60,000.00 Mexican pesos (~3,025 USD)
• Second place: $40,000.00 Mexican pesos (~2,017 USD)
• Third place: $20,000.00 Mexican pesos(~1000 USD)
• In the category of Students:
• First place: $30,000.00 Mexican pesos (~1,510 USD)
• Second place: $20,000.00 Mexican pesos (~1000 USD)
• Third place: $10,000.00 Mexican pesos (~504 USD)

For Alternative Techniques and Poster

• In the category of Professionals:
• First place: $40,000.00 Mexican pesos (~2,017 USD)
• Second place: $25,000.00 Mexican pesos (~1,260 USD)
• The third place: $10,000.00 Mexican pesos (~504 USD)
• In the category of Students:
• First place: $20,000.00 Mexican pesos (~1000 USD)
• Second place: $13,000.00 Mexican pesos (~655 USD)
• Third place: $5,000.00 Mexican pesos (~250 USD)
• The finalists whose address is outside the Metropolitan Zone of Pachuca will be provided with free accommodation for them plus one companion (double room, breakfast included) on Friday, April 21, 2023.

You should follow the following criteria:

• This call for entries is addressed to students and professionals of Photography, Design, Visual Arts, and Documentary Films.
• To register in the Students category, they must be enrolled in undergraduate programs offered by higher education institutions in Mexico or other countries; recognized by educational authorities or academic institutions and organizations.
• To compete in the category of Professionals, they must be experts of the image, and their expertise will be proven with a CV, their experience, and/or professional career for each established item.
• Students and professionals who register in the Contest have the responsibility of guaranteeing they are the authors and owners of copyright, intellectual and artistic rights of the work.
• The participants will be able to participate in only one of the two categories, however, they can register in more than one genre.
• The works the participants submit must have been made within four years previous to the closing of this Call.
• For Photography, you should : 
• Register a series of 3 to 5 images that show a unified topic. 
• Send work in 72 DPI of the resolution, en JPG or PNG format, RGB mode or grayscale, at 8 Bits, with a minimum weight of 1 MB and a maximum 2 MB (each one). 
• Attach a conceptual text of the work of maximum 1,000 characters.
• For Alternative Techniques:
• The works must be presented in a 2D shape (no 3D works will be accepted).
•  For Documentary Film, you should:
• Fill out your data online, including the synopsis of the project and a link to the full video.
• Strictly subtitled the work in English or Spanish. 
• For the Poster, you should:
• Register online only one design.
• Have the following characteristics: 72 DPI of resolution, en JPG or PNG format, RGB mode or grayscale, at 8 Bits, with a minimum weight of 1 MB and maximum 2 MB.

Evaluation Process:

 Your work will be evaluated based on:

• Its relevance.
• The technical, aesthetic, and conceptual quality.

Competition Timeline:

• Competition Deadline: 1/20/2023 
• The selection process will end: On February 24, 2023
• The final works received: from March 6 to March 10, 2023
• The awarding ceremony: On April 21, 2023
