Opportunity description

 UNV offers a volunteer opportunity in Lebanon and has announced its need for the efforts of one volunteer to work in the position of field monitoring assistant. This UNV assignment is part of WFP Lebanon, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit in the Tripoli Field Office, and it is expected to start on 01/06/2023 for 6 months (with the possibility of extension).

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting regular field visits to monitor food assistance distribution with WFP cooperating partners and to Cash Assistance redemption points.
  • Conducting post-distribution monitoring including Process Monitoring and BNOMs to assess the effectiveness of the food assistance provided and collect beneficiary feedback.
  • Collecting data and information on program activities, progress, and challenges to support monitoring and evaluation efforts.
  • Conducting phone call surveys with beneficiary for verification and validation purposes to ensure that assistance is reaching the intended recipients.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports and other documentation related to program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Assisting in the preparation of beneficiary lists.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Public Health, Social Science and Statistics, Information Management, or International Relations.
  • 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, program monitoring and reporting with national or international non-profit organizations, or other relevant programs.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills.
  • Experience with UN agencies is an asset.
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and familiarity with tools and approaches of communication for development.
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet.
  • Familiarity with database management and sound security awareness.
  • Expertise in Business Management, Community development, Economics, and finance.
  • French with a basic level.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Adaptability and flexibility and creativity.
  • Judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • Teamwork and respect for diversity.
  • You must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
