Foça Film Days Festival in Turkey for Filmmakers all over the World

The Foça Film Days Festival invites all creative filmmakers all over the world to participate with their films and compete within the festival. Local Culture and World Heritage” is the theme of the 4th Foça International Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Documentary Film Days (Foça Film Days 2021). The festival is looking especially for films that present well-known cultural traditions from a new or unusual perspective; films that examine the historical origins of local cultural traditions from Turkey and around the world; and films that investigate cross-cultural traditions.

About the Festival:-

• Various civilizations throughout history have made their home in Foça, whose combination of natural beauty and unique history makes it a truly special place. 
• Between October 20-26 2021, Foça Film Days 2021 will feature film screenings and Q&As with directors in front of a live audience in Foça’s Marseilles Square and at the Foça Municipality’s Reha Midilli Cultural Centre. 
• The free workshops, exhibitions and guided tours of Foça’s historical sites that form an important part of Foça Film Days will also be open to “virtual” participants.

Foça Film Days is not a festival that awards prizes. However, filmmakers and photographers who apply herein and whose works are selected for screening/exhibition at the Foça International Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Film Days will receive a certificate of participation and the Foça Film Days laurels logo.

• Documentary Film Category
• Submissions must be documentary films that address the theme “But is it Local? Local Culture and World Heritage. 
• Films must have been completed after December 31, 2014 and should not exceed 70 minutes. Films that do not fit these criteria will not be considered.
• Individuals may submit up to 3 films/photos. If an individual submits more than 3 items total, none of the submissions will be considered. 
• Films in any language other than Turkish or English must be submitted with English subtitles.
• If your film is accepted for screening, you will be required to send the following material to the email address included in your acceptance letter by 3 July 2021: 
• A link to a downloadable copy of the film (.mov or .mp4) without subtitles for live and on-line screening. 
• An .srt file with English subtitles (for all films, including those in English.
• A director’s photo/bio.
• Student Documentary Film Category
• Applicants in this category must be students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. 
• A copy of a current Student I.D. or Certificate of Enrollment must be uploaded with your application.
• Submissions must be documentary films that address the theme “But is it Local? Local Culture and World Heritage.” 
• Films must have been completed after December 31, 2018 and should not exceed 35 minutes. Films that do not fit these criteria will not be considered.
• Individuals may submit up to 3 films/photos. If an individual submits more than 3 items total, none of the submissions will be considered. 
• Films in any language other than Turkish or English must be submitted with English subtitles.
• If your film is accepted for screening, you will be required to send the following material to the email address included in your acceptance letter by 3 July 2021:

• Documentary Photography Category
• Submissions must be documentary photographs that address the theme “But is it Local? Local Culture and World Heritage. Here, a “documentary photograph” is considered to be a photograph that is a complete record of an image at the time it was taken, with no removal of any individual or object, and no addition of any data. With the exception of cropping, noise reduction, dodging/burning, dust-spot removal, sharpening/contrast, tone manipulation and multiple exposure layering of images taken at the same time and in the same location, no other image manipulation is permitted.
• Individuals may submit up to 3 films/photos. If an individual submits more than 3 items total, none of the submissions will be considered.
• Photographs should be full-frame (no borders) JPEG images between 2-8 MB and with the longest side at least 1920 pixels. 
• Photograph submissions must include a caption and accompanying information, including the location where the image was captured and any other relevant background information, such as any motivations for having recorded the image and any special circumstances surrounding the moment.
• If your photograph is selected for inclusion at Foça Film Days, you will be required to send a high-resolution TIFF file in 8-bit Adobe RGB along with a short biography to the email address included in your acceptance letter by 3 July 2021:
