Opportunity description

Africa21 is inviting Egyptians journalists to participate in its Workshop held in Egypt From June 5 to June 12 on biodiversity and ecosystem services. The workshop will be held in Hurghada which is located at the edge of the Red Sea, a hub for biodiversity in Egypt. If you are a journalist based in Egypt, with 5 years of experience in the field and a genuine interest in sustainable development and climate change issues, you can apply

Workshop Theme:-

  • The worldwide health crisis linked to Covid-19 reminds us of the fragility and dependence of human beings on nature. In the latest IPBES report, the figures given by scientists are frightening: one million animal and plant species are threatened with extinction. In another report released in the fall of 2020, they clearly linked the biodiversity crisis to the Covid-19 crisis.
  • This is why Africa 21 and its partners have selected the theme of « biodiversity and ecosystem services » as the central theme for the work of the African Journalists Network on Sustainable Development and Climate Change.

Workshop Programme:-

  • 15 Egyptian journalists from the country’s main media (print, radio, TV, news agency) will be invited to participate in this event, together with many international experts and partners.
  • In parallel to the event, a journalistic competition is organized on the theme of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Egypt.

About Africa21:-

Africa 21 is a think tank created in 2011 in Geneva working for a better understanding of sustainable development in Africa, in particular from the perspective of the implementation of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Goals. Its structure targets all African actors or those having an action or an interest in Africa. Africa21 positions itself as a platform for exchange between practitioners and researchers from the South and the North and a network of African expertise.
