Opportunity description

Uppsala University, based in Sweden, offers scholarships for prospective fee-paying international students who are applying to an international Master's program.

Available Scholarships:

  1. Uppsala University Global Scholarship
  2. Uppsala University President’s Club Scholarship
  3. The King Carl Gustaf Scholarship

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Citizens of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  2. Applicants must demonstrate academic talent and show interest in belonging to an educational milieu.
  3. Students can only be awarded a scholarship if a program at Uppsala University is chosen as first priority.
  4. You must have applied for the Master's program before the University Admissions deadline.
  5. You must meet the entrance requirements for the program you applied to and application fee and supporting documents must have been received before deadline to University Admissions.
  6. The program must be delivered on campus. The scholarship is not available for distance learning programs or programs partially taught at other universities outside Sweden.
  7. The King Carl Gustaf Scholarship is aimed at students who live in unsafe and dangerous conditions in areas of conflict outside Europe (Citizens of Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Cuba, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Lebanon, Malawi, Mexico, Namibia, Palestine, the Philippines, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.).
  8. You must always submit your documents in the official language of the country where you studied. If this language is not Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or English, you must also provide an official translation. This translation should be in Swedish or English. Official transcripts of records or certified true copies must be scanned in color.
  9. The Anders Wall Scholarship for bachelor’s and master’s studies is open only to citizens of African countries.

Selection criteria:

Uppsala University’s scholarships for tuition liable students are merit-based and are awarded to academically talented students who show an interest in belonging to an educational milieu. Information about your academic performance is taken from the supporting documents you submit when applying to Master's studies. The written motivation in your online scholarship application is also taken into account. When selecting scholarship recipients, financial need will not be taken into consideration.

Scholarship amount:

The scholarships will cover tuition fees for master’s programmes offered at Uppsala University during the current admission period, with studies starting in August/September 2026. Living expenses will not be covered.
