Opportunity description

The Anita White Foundation is offering grant to early-career researchers that demonstrates excellence in published social science scholarship on child welfare in sport and/or on women and sport.

Benefits

  • An amount of £500 will be provided.
  • The award is to be spent on activities or expenses related to scholarship and research (for example professional development, scholarly events, subscriptions to scholarly publications, or membership to professional associations).
  • The award is to be spent within ten months of receipt. The recipient will be required to submit a report of not more than 500 words on how they used the award. The Anita White Foundation reserves the right to withdraw the award.

Eligibility criteria

  • Application is open to early career researchers. These are researchers who are currently undertaking doctoral studies or were awarded doctoral degrees after January 2019.
  • The entry must have been published in English between 1 March 2021 and 1 March 2022.
  • The award welcome submissions in a variety of formats, including journal articles, book chapters, theses, and project reports.
  • The panel will only accept one submission per applicant.
  • The primary assessment criteria is that the submission demonstrates excellent scholarship on the subject of child welfare in sport and/or women and sport. The entry should demonstrate quality of scholarship, originality and advancing of knowledge in the field, critical thinking and a potential to impact on practice.

About Anita White Foundation:

The AWF was launched in 2011 at the University of Chichester, UK. It comprised a Fund to support women leaders and scholars who faced challenges in particular areas of the world and an Archive of materials about the Women and Sport Movement.
