International Building Design Competition for Schools with Prize Pool of $27.000

Nanyang Technological University is accepting entries for International Building Design Competition (IBDC) 2022. That hopes to provide a platform for students to learn and apply their knowledge on the three key areas identified under the Construction Industry Transformation Map for the Built Environment sector. The three areas are:

1. Sustainable Building Design
2. Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA)
3. Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD)

The IBDC also aims to promote a better understanding and appreciation of technologies like Computational Building Information Modelling (BIM) as students are required to apply visual programming and/or programming setup with BIM in their proposal. The IBDC 2022 will adopt an ‘open-theme approach’. That means participants can select a project site of their choice in their own country, and decide on their preferred building typology for the competition. Participants may also use their existing school project for the competition as long as the competition criteria are met.

• 1st Prize $8,000
• 2nd Prize $6,000
• 3rd Prize $4,000
• 3 Special Mention Prizes for Sustainable Building Design, DfMA and IDD respectively $2,000 each
• 6 Consolation Prizes $500 each

1. Participating schools must be registered tertiary institutions in their respective countries.
2. Each school may send more than 1 Participating Team.
3. Each Participating Team needs to have a minimum of 3 members (including the team leader) and is allowed to have up to maximum of 8 members (including the team leader).
4. Participants below 18 years old are required to obtain consent from their respective institutes and parents/guardians to participate in the competition. Participants may be required to show proof of such consent upon request of the Organisers.
5. The Participants are required to update the Organisers on any replacement of team member latest by 30 Jun (Thur) 2022.
6. The Organisers reserve the right to reject any Participant who does not meet the eligibility criteria.
7. The Organisers reserve the right to cancel and/or modify the terms and conditions, at any time, during the competition.
