Opportunity description
The international competition Mais Imaginarius opens the challenge for emergent artists to present proposals that address the public space in its most diverse perceptions, testing formats and models, towards the construction of plural identities. In a dialogue between contemporary artistic creation and public space, it seeks experimentation, exploring new connections between different languages and cultural/natural heritage. In this edition, Mais Imaginarius will select up to 15 projects, which will be in competition, integrating the official program of the 21st edition of the festival.
Benefits
- Travel expenses through a financial backup to be included in a support grant for each participating artistic project/artist or company: 400 Euros for artists and companies from Iberian Peninsula and from Madeira and Azores, 700 Euros for artists and companies from the rest of Europe, 1000 Euros for artists and companies from other continents.
- Food and accommodation for the whole artistic team during the festival, between May 26 and May 29.
- Light and sound technical requirements, by using the resources installed at each location, to be shared with other artistic projects.
- Visibility to the network of professionals attending the festival.
- Participation in the Imaginarius PRO professional space.
- Communication of the artistic project through the festival network [printed materials, online and media].
Eligibility criteria
- Applications from artistic projects by Portuguese and international companies are eligible.
- Artists and companies applying to Mais Imaginarius 2022 must be available for performances between 26 and 29 May 2022, during the time period of the festival.
- Each performative selected project must perform in public 4 to 6 times during the festival, tending to be two daytime performances and two evening performances, [the final number will be adjusted with the artist, depending on the characteristics of the project.
- The previous point should be reviewed for each project in the axis of urban intervention and public art installation.
- The artist will be responsible for presenting the performance and for all the required scenic and artistic resources.

About Mais Imaginarius Festival:-
Mais Imaginarius Festival has been investing, since 2001, in major international productions and in the development of original creations to be premiered as part of its programming, thus giving way to experimentation and the imagination of local creators. The official program also includes the Mais Imaginarius section, a competition of projects by emerging artists, and ''Imaginarius Infantil'', with workshops and innovating experiences for audiences aged between 3 and 12.
