Opportunity description

ESCWA announces an international conference for the mid-term review of the strategic framework for improving civil status registration and vital statistics systems 2021-2025, which is organized by ESCWA in Jordan, the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics, and the United Nations Population Fund, in cooperation with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, to serve as a regional workshop on this issue for studying progress and ways forward.

Benefits

This conference aims to conduct a comprehensive review of the progress achieved in implementing the strategic framework by the countries and organizations concerned in the mid-term, in addition to identifying experiences that can be benefited from to accelerate the achievement of its objectives in the next two years at the regional and national levels.

Eligibility criteria

This seminar will be held two years after the development of the regional strategic framework, which was prepared by ESCWA, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), UNICEF, the Norwegian Refugee Council and international Development Research Canada. This framework was launched at a regional workshop in July 2021 as a guidance document for developing national action plans, and aims to improve and modernize civil registration systems, in line with relevant priorities in each country.
