The International Writers’ Workshop (IWW) is a global literary program launched in 2004 under the umbrella of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). It has hosted over 150 writers from more than 55 countries. The university is one of Asia’s leading institutions in creative writing, literary studies, visual arts, and music and is known for its strong commitment to creativity and global cultural exchange.
The Writers-in-Residence Programme 2026 is a creative residency that will take place from 2 March to 29 March 2026, culminating in a literary festival organized by IWW under the theme "Here and There." The residency provides a space for writers to develop their projects and share their work within a vibrant international cultural program in Hong Kong.

Selected applicants will be notified by late October 2025.

Eligibility criteria
At least one published book
Must currently reside outside of Hong Kong
Functional proficiency in English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
Program Requirements:
Full attendance for the entire residency (2 March–29March 2026)
Mandatory participation in the Welcome Ceremony during the first week
Participation in the IWW Literary Festival during the final week
(Writers are encouraged to share work related to the theme “Here and There.”)
