Online Competition in the Field of Astronomy and the Chance to Win Valuable Prizes

The International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition has been open online for all participants from all countries in 2021. It is an international science competition that enables students from all countries to prove their skills and to unleash their creativity in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics. IAAC gives you the unique opportunity to apply your skills to challenging problems. You can receive certificates, awards, cash prizes.

If you win in this competition, you will get one of the following prizes ( for both the youth and junior category):

• Prize 1: 150 USD Cash Prize, Special Prize Certificate.
• Prize 2:100 USD Cash Prize, Special Prize Certificate.
• Prize 3: 50 USD Cash Prize, Special Prize Certificate.
• National Awards: Special National Award Certificate (best participant from each country).
• All Finalists: Bronze Honour, Silver Honour or Gold Honour.
• All Participants: Official Participation Certificate.

To can be participated, you must be:

1. a high-school or university student. 
2. interested in astronomy, smart, and creative. 
3. Students from all grades and all countries.
4. There are two age categories:

• Junior: under 18 years on 30. April 2021.
• Youth: over 18 years on 30. April 2021.

Please note:

• The qualification round is the first stage and consists of five astronomy problems. These astronomy problems vary in topic, difficulty, and subject.
• The pre-final round consists of 10 different problems that vary in difficulty, points, and topic. 
• The final round consists of a single exam with 30 multiple-choice questions. The questions require knowledge about astronomy and astrophysics. Finalists have 60 seconds for each question.

• 30. April 2021: Submission Deadline of Qualification Round.
• 10. May 2021 Result Announcement of Qualification Round.
• 28. May 2021 Registration Deadline for Pre-Final Round.
• 01. June 2021 Release of Pre-Final Round Problems.
• 06. June 2021 Submission Deadline of Pre-Final Round.
• 14. June 2021 Result Announcement of Pre-Final Round.
• 29. June 2021 Day of the Final Round Exam.
• 05. July 2021 Result Announcement of Final Round.

About the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition (IAAC):

The International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition is coordinated by Edu. Harbour and takes place annually on an international level. The competition was organized in 2019 for the first time and has since then counted several thousand students from all around the world as participants. The organizing team is constantly evolving, with most team members being based in Germany. The idea formed after the success of the International Youth Math Challenge to which the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition has close relations, with the aim to establish a similar online competition addressing the disciplines of astronomy and astrophysics.
