Opportunity description
MASTERS REVIEW is announcing its online competition for new short story writers, which will give the winners the chance to win $3,000. The contest is a biannual competition that seeks out the best short prose works by emerging writers. This competition is open to any writer who has not previously published his/her novel or memoir with a major newspaper.
Benefits
- The first-place winner will receive a prize of $3,000 USD, as well as the publication of their winning work online.
- Second and third-place winners will receive $300 and $200, respectively, along with publishing their winning work online.
- All finalists' work will be reviewed by one of the competition's six partner agencies, which include Nat Sobel of Sobel Weber, Victoria Cabello of The Bent Agency, Andrea Morrison of Writers House, Sarah Fuentes of United Talent Agency, Heather Schroder of Compass Talent, and Marin Takikawa of the Friedrich Agency.
Eligibility criteria
- The word count must not be less than 6000 words.
- The submitted work must not have been previously published, whether on personal blogs, social media or any other websites.
- The application fee is $20.
- You can participate in more than one work, knowing that the application fee for each participating work is $20.
- Only emerging writers can apply for this competition.
- Authors who have previously published books can submit their unpublished works.
- Entries are allowed from all over the world, provided that the work is written in English.
- All entries must be double spaced with a margin of one inch and use Times New Roman or Garamond font.
- All entries will be answered by the end of November, and the winners will be announced at the end of the year.
- The competition is looking for the best entries in the field of fiction, regardless of the subject or style of the entry.
About MASTERS REVIEW:
The Masters Review was founded by Kim Winternheimer in 2011 to celebrate new and emerging writers. The Foundation is looking for the best new talent to publish their stories in order to encourage them to continue producing great literary work.
