Opportunity description
Wells Literature Festival announces an online short story competition, which will give winners the chance to win £750.
Benefits
- The first place winner will receive £750.
- The second place winner will receive £300.
- The third place winner will receive £200.
- The competition will offer a prize of £100 for the best local business.
Eligibility criteria
- The entry fee is £6.
- Participants may submit any number of entries.
- All posts must be anonymous. Do not put your name or contact details in the file title. Your name and contact details are recorded via the application form only.
- Place the title and page number on each page of the submitted work.
- Entries can be about any topic.
- Stories should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words in length.
- Please record the word count on the first page of the file.
- Save the file as PDF.
- The file name must be the title of your story, written exactly as it is written in the document.
- All entries must be the exclusive and original work of the entrant.
- Young Poets Competition entrants must be aged between 16 and 22, and entrants to all other competitions who are under the age of 16 on the submission closing date of 30 June 2024 must have permission from the parent or guardian, to whom the prize will be paid on behalf of Participant.
- Participants in the Young Poets Competition may submit one entry. Participants in the Open Poetry, Children's Writers and Short Story sections may submit as many entries as they wish, but each entry will require a separate registration fee.
- Your work must not have been entered in any other competition and must not have been published anywhere at the time of submission to the competition.
- All participants agree that once they have entered any work in the competition, it will not be subsequently entered into any other competition or published until it is determined that it has not won any other prize or after the competition winners are announced.
- Entries exceeding the specified length will be disqualified.
- The jury's decisions are final and non-negotiable.
