Opportunity description
UNV offers an online volunteer opportunity to draft volunteer recruitment forms for UN agencies during emergency periods. The Arab States region has faced several emergencies in the past two years, starting with the earthquake that struck Syria, followed by conflict in Sudan, another earthquake in Morocco, and devastating floods in Libya. Therefore, in order to maintain a rapid and effective response and protect peace and development efforts in member states, UN agencies need to remain prepared for any potential emergency scenario, and to achieve this, the program is seeking assistance from a group of online volunteers to help create volunteer task description (DOA) templates for UN humanitarian agencies. These models will not only be used during current emergencies, but will also serve as valuable resources for dealing with future crises.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Select three United Nations humanitarian organizations from the following organizations (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, UNICEF, World Food Program, World Health Organization, UNHCR, Food and Agriculture Organization).
- Conduct online research on the activities of these organizations and the specific support required for them.
- Review previously published volunteer assignment descriptions (DOAs) templates from these organizations.
- Create at least 20 standard DOA templates specifically designed for these organizations to support their activities in Libya and Morocco.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Experience in creating templates for describing volunteer tasks.
- Previous experience in a humanitarian/emergency context.
- Preferably have an understanding of different project cycles.
- It is preferable to have previous work experience in any UN humanitarian agency.
- It is preferable to be fluent in English.
