Opportunity description

UNV offers an online volunteer opportunity to design publications for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. UNODC focuses its work on the three international drug control conventions, the conventions against transnational organized crime and against corruption, and the international counter-terrorism instruments. The office aims to make the world safer by combating drugs, organized crime, corruption, and terrorism to achieve health, security, and justice for all and to promote peace and sustainable prosperity. The Office provides necessary technical assistance to Member States in the areas of health, criminal justice, and public security, including drug abuse control and prevention, addressing transnational organized crime, illicit trafficking in drugs, human beings, and weapons, prison reform, corruption and money laundering, and HIV prevention among drug users.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:
  • Design of one (1) publication for UNODC to be printed and used online.
  • Design a 70-page report, based on the project's visual identity and established requirements and guidelines.
  • The design must follow the office's design guidelines which will be shared with you online in advance.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Professional experience in the field of graphic design.
  • Previous experience in document layout design.
  • Strong knowledge of graphic design applications.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Degree in graphic design or any related field.
  • Fluency in Portuguese.
  • It is preferable to have a working knowledge of the Spanish language.
  • You will have the opportunity to connect with the PRIS-COOP project at UNODC and learn about ways in which graphic design can support scaling up of the advisory work on prisoner classification developed with the Paraguayan authorities, which establishes principles, indicators and an action plan for developing a methodology for classifying people who deprived of freedom in the state.
