Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers program offers an online volunteer opportunity to translate a brochure from English to French. The volunteer will, to the best of his ability, translate the English version of the document efficiently and correctly into French. Youth are key to advancing the 2030 Agenda, and this booklet explains this importance across the programmatic work of UNODC. The booklet will be made available online and in print formats, and is aimed at the general public, especially those who are not familiar with the work of UNODC. The text may contain some professional vocabulary in a small amount, and consists of 11 A4 pages.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Translation of the 11-page document in A4 format into French.
- Translating some of the points and recommendations contained in the document.
- Ensure that the translation is concise, in line with the organization's communication guidelines, and tailored to the audience (general public).
- You will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive all the organization's target audience and communication guidelines.
- You will have the opportunity to build relationships with the Strategic Planning and Inter-Agency Affairs Unit in Vienna, Austria and learn about how your translated work contributes to increasing people's awareness of the importance of youth.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Proficiency in French and English.
- It is preferable to be familiar with technical terminology related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
- Previous experience in the field of translation.
