Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers program offers an online volunteer opportunity to translate the document on the medical oxygen system in Tunisia from English to French. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tunisia was able to boost the supply of medical oxygen to the health system by acquiring new oxygen storage and production equipment, including oxygen concentrators and generators. Despite these efforts, oxygen shortages occurred during the crisis as well. Expanding the supply of medical oxygen is essential to achieving national and global goals of reducing neonatal, infant and maternal morbidity and mortality, as well as providing better care for patients with severe forms of COVID-19, trauma, chronic diseases or undergoing surgery. In this context, UNICEF supported the Ministry of Health in developing a national strategy to scale up oxygen supply to create a sustainable oxygen supply ecosystem in Tunisia.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Translation of the National Strategy Document for the Medical Oxygen System from English to French, which consists of 18,500 words (57 pages).
- Ensure that the translation is concise, in line with the organization's communication guidelines, and appropriate for the target audience.
- You will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with the UNICEF Early Childhood Development team and learn about ways in which you will contribute to improving the resilience of Tunisia's health system, and contribute to emergency preparedness.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Proficiency in French and English.
- Preferably familiar with technical terminology related to health/supply chains.
- Previous experience in the field of translation.
