Opportunity description
Yeovil Literary Foundation announces its online literary competition in the field of writing, which is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of international literature. This year's competition began on January 1, 2024 and will end on May 31, 2024, with the winners being announced on the organization's website on September 30, 2024.
Eligibility criteria
- Participated works must be an original work of the participant.
- You must be 16 years old or older.
- Submitted works must be in English (not translated into English) and must not have been self-published or previously accepted for publication.
- Entries that have won or qualified as finalists in one of the other writing competitions can apply to this competition.
- The entrant will still retain the copyright to his/her entrant's work.
- The participant's name must appear only on the entry form, not on the entry itself. If the entry includes the author's name, it will be disqualified.
- You can only enter one entry per entry form, but a single payment can be made to cover multiple entries, including payment via PayPal or BACS/IBAN.
- A reference number is automatically allocated once you submit your participating work. All post-submission correspondence must quote your entry reference number (eg: 24/EC0….C00…./Z…).
- Entries can have a word count of up to 10,000 words which must include up to 500 words as an abstract.
- The jury's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into with the participants.
- Pornographic material will be excluded.
- Winners will be notified via letter or email and results will be published on the competition website (www.yeovilprize.co.uk) on 30 September 2024.
- Registration fees are:
- For novels: £14.50.
- For short stories: £8.
- For poetic works: £5 per poem.
- For children's/young adult novels: £12.50.
- For freelance writing: £6.
About Yeovil Literary Prize:
The Yeovil Literary Prize was started in 2002, by YCAA (Yeovil Community Arts Association). It has gained recognition as an established fixture in the international literary calendar. The Yeovil Literary Prize aims to promote Creative Writing and provide a genuine opportunity for aspiring writers, everywhere, as well as to support the YCAA in its future role by raising funds to support the arts.
